BLUE HILL WOMAN RECOGNIZED FOR VOLUNTEER EFFORTS
2009 Super Volunteer Award Goes to Confirmation Teacher
BLUE HILL, NEBR. (November 18, 2009) – Diane Karr has been selected as the 2009 Super Volunteer for the Little Blue River Chapter of Thrivent Financial.
The Blue Hill resident won the award for her willingness to give of her time and talents to her church and community.
Karr volunteers in numerous ways. She has taught confirmation classes at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill for ten years, and serves as organist about once a month. She was active in preparations for the 125th celebration of the church and served on the Blue Hill Alumni Board.
Karr enjoys volunteering and believes it’s a calling for her. “I feel like if God has given me an ability to do something and someone asks me to help, as long as I’m not shortchanging my family, it’s something I can do,” she said. She thinks volunteering enriches a community. “If you look at what volunteers accomplish, whether it’s in our churches or our communities, it’s amazing what gets done when people set forth and sacrifice their time. It’s very rewarding to be part of those projects.”
As the 2009 Super Volunteer, Karr was presented with $100. She plans on using the money to purchase gifts for the giving tree at South Central State Bank.
Karr is the wife of Michael; the couple has four sons, ages 10, 8, 3, and 1. They attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill.
